Premier League club Liverpool FC have agreed to sell attacker Luis Alberto to Lazio for a fee of £6 Million. Reports say that Liverpool will pocket £4.3 Million upfront and will later receive £1.7 Million as add-ons.

Liverpool held negotiations with the Serie A club on Monday and were able to come to an agreement. Reports say that the Reds will receive the add-ons if Lazio qualifies for European football this season. The Merseyside club also have included a 30% sell-on clause in the contract for the sale of the Spaniard. The 23-year-old will now travel to Rome to have his medicals and also to discuss personal terms with the Italian outfits.

The Spaniard arrived at Liverpool three years ago from Sevilla for a fee of £6.8 Million. The attacked made only 12 appearances for the Reds during the 2013-14 season under Brendan Rodgers and was unable to adapt to the Premier League.

Luis Alberto was then sent on loan to Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna for the past two years. During his loan stay with Malaga he was able to score only two goals, but he was far more impactful for Deportivo La Coruna. The Spaniard scored six goals from 31 appearances for Deportivo last season and was an important player for the club. He also had to face some injury problems last year which derailed his season.

More players to leave Liverpool before the end of the transfer window

Even though he had a good loan spell last term new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has found him to be surplus to requirements and has allowed him to leave the club. The transfer deadline is almost here and outgoings are more expected than incomings at Liverpool (Players like Mario Balotelli Lazar Markovic, Mamadou Sakho, etc are all expected to leave).

Luis Alberto's former club Sevilla was interested in resigning the attacker last month but the two clubs were not able to reach an agreement over the fees to be paid for the player. However, the Reds were able to find a club who were ready to match their value expectations for the player in Lazio.

The fee received from Lazio in addition to the loan fee from Deportivo La Coruna last season means that Liverpool will recoup all the money they spend for the Spaniard three years ago. The Spaniard is expected to be announced as a Lazio player on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
