Liverpool transfer rumour: Reds eyeing Alexandre Lacazette and Saido Berahino

Premier League leaders Liverpool are in for a double swoop for strikers Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon and Saido Berahino of West Bromwich Albion according to reports in England. It is believed that the two strikers are high on the list of targets for Liverpool in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Reds have been linked with a number of names in recent weeks most of whom are forwards with reports from Spain suggesting that the Anfield club is considering a bid for Athletic Bilbao starlet Inaki Williams but the youngster is supposedly a long-term target for Liverpool.

It is believed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is considering more experienced options over the Bilbao youngster who is only 22.

Alexandre Lacazette is high on the list of choices available, as the striker has an exemplary goal scoring record and is robust and fit enough for the rigours of Premier League football.

The 25-year-old striker Lacazette has been on fire for his current club Lyon again this season and has managed to score ten goals in 10 games thus far, all of which have come in Ligue 1. The in-demand striker has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in the past because of his abilities and his goal scoring prowess, so Liverpool could have to fend off other clubs for his signature.

Lacazette scored 23 goals in 40 games for his club Lyon in 2015/16 and 27 goals in 33 games the season before that.

Berahino in the fray as well

Apart from Lacazette, there is out of favour West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino who is also reportedly on Liverpool’s radar. Berahino has also been rumoured to join a host of Premier League clubs in the past, ever since his breakout season in 2014/15 where he netted 14 Premier League goals in 32 games.

Currently, though, the striker finds himself overlooked by Albion not having scored a single goal this season and he has played only 245 minutes of football so far this season and is relatively unfit. As a result of this, his price has dropped considerably, and he could be a bargain buy for the Reds as they look to reinforce their front line.

Many feel that the club never entirely replaced Luis Suarez after a number of strikers failing to shine at Anfield after his departure. Liverpool currently lack a quality striker, and Jurgen Klopp is looking to improve one of the Premier League deadliest attacks.

Berahino and Lacazette could be Liverpool’s answer to their rival’s transfer dealings and certainly, will make the Anfield outfit even more formidable.

Liverpool are currently 1st in the Premier League table at this stage of the season with 26 points from 11 games, while 2nd placed Chelsea are on 25 points. The Reds play Southampton tonight at the Stadium Of Light at 8.30 pm as they look to stretch their lead.
