Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has revealed that FC Nürnberg striker Josip Drmic will sign for Premier League outfit Arsenal in the summer, report the Express.

The Swiss international has already been forced to release a statement insisting that a deal with the north Londoners had not been completed when Matthaus claimed that his wife was already searching for a house in England ahead of the move earlier in the month.

However, the former Germany manager is adamant the 21-year-old will be an Arsenal player next season, even naming his predicted price.

“You will see Drmic will go to Arsenal for eight million – I was right before and I’ll be right again,” he insisted.

Matthaus clearly has an extensive contact list within German football and has successfully predicted transfers in the past, including Robert Lewandowski’s move from Borussia Dortmund to rivals Bayern Munich.

Drmic has produced a string of impressive performances for Gertjan Verbeek’s side in the Bundesliga and is rumoured to have a £4 million release clause in his contract, which contradicts Matthaus’ claims.

Nürnberg are keen to agree a new deal with the forward but given that the youngster is expected to shine at the World Cup in Brazil with Switzerland a significant bid for his services would be likely to be accepted.

Meanwhile, Gunners chief Arsenal Wenger is desperate to bolster his front line to provide back up for Olivier Giroud, with Drmic believed to be a perfect fit for Arsenal’s philosophy and preference to sign technically accomplished youngsters with plenty of potential to develop.

Robert Lewandowski and Mario Mandzukic (both 17) are the only players to score more Bundesliga goals than Josip Drmic this season (16).
