Louis van Gaal fined us for being late to lunch: Marouane Fellaini

Marouane Fellaini has said that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal fined 10 Manchester United players including the Belgian midfielder for being a minute late to lunch. The Dutch manager has gained quite a reputation for his strict regimented methods.

“He blew a fuse the other day when a group of 10 of us were one minute late for lunch after training,” Fellaini said.

“You think one minute is nothing and it wasn't for training, but for the canteen. For him it's important though.”

He went on to add, “He dished out a few fines. That's what happens to late-comers and even for a red card. You get fined, too, for a bad foul.”

The former Everton midfielder initially found it difficult to slot in at Old Trafford but has found new rhythm in this new Manchester United squad. Van Gaal even called Fellaini “undroppable” in his current form.

Van Gaal has been a disciplinarian wherever he has managed in the past. He seems to have brought the same policies along with him to United.

But this is another one of those manager quirks that seems destined to show up at some point in a meme.
