Louis van Gaal
On his way out?

Louis Van Gaal has been left out of Manchester United’s promotional video for their International Champions Cup competition that will take place during the summer break this year. The club are set to take part in the annual off-season competition which is set to take place in China.

The club will play against the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City as part of their summer tour in 2016. Van Gaal who featured in their promotional videos in the previous two seasons has not made an appearance for this video.

In the 49-second clip, previous great players such as Eric Cantona and George Best were present. There were also 14 current members of the senior squad including the likes of Marcus Rashford and Guillermo Varela.

Louis van Gaal has endured a tough second season at the club following a string of inconsistent results. And this video will only increase the speculation surrounding his future at the club.

He took over from now assistant manager Ryan Giggs in the summer of 2014 and helped the club qualify for the Champions Lague after they had missed out the previous season as a result of finishing seventh.

Louis Van Gaal under scrutiny

The Dutchman has spent a lot of money over the past two years acquiring several players. The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and most notably Anthony Martial were all brought in last summer.

But he hasn’t backed up the spending with results on the pitch. The club are currently 6th in the Premier League table but are only a point behind Manchester City who are in 4th after defeating their rivals in the derby.

If he is unable to help the club qualify for the Champions League next season then there is a high possibility of his departure at the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho to United edging closer

The fans have voiced their concern over the results and the style of play. Amidst all the uncertainty there have also been several reports of Jose Mourinho taking over as the new manager.

There are suggestions that Mourinho has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club and is set to take over in the summer. The board are unsure if he is the right man for the job and hence have not yet agreed on a complete deal.
