Lucas Silva accepts Real Madrid offer, reveals Cruzeiro vice president

Real Madrid have won the race to the signature of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva as Cruzeiro vice president Marcio Rodrigues revealed that the 22-year-old has accepted the offer of Real Madrid, deciding that it’s time to step up his game. However, an official statement from Real Madrid side is yet to be made.

Rodrigues said, “Lucas Silva's transfer deal is official and a statement will be made on Thursday. The player has decided it's time for him to leave. We won't have any problem finding a replacement. Various reserve team players are ready to step up."

According to Spanish sports newspaper Marca, Real are offering a fee of €15 million combined with a six-and-a-half year contract to Silva. The player was earlier linked with Premier League side Arsenal until he revealed his interest to join the La Liga giants. Lucas Silva started his career in football as a youth player of Cruzeiro in 2007.

He made his professional debut in the Brasileirao when Cruzeiro played against Portuguesa in 2012. He was a part of the Cruzeiro squad that won Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A in 2013 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have recently announced the official signing of Martin Odegaard. The transfer fee is said to be around €3 million. When the 16-year old midfielder was asked about his transfer, he said. “It's a dream come true. It is a bit unreal that I'm here at the biggest club in the world. It's huge for me, an honour."
