Lukas Podolski: Going nowhere?

Ali Pektas, the agent of German International Lukas Podolski has rubbished claims that there have been no enquiries about his client from other clubs regarding a move away from the Premier League.

Pektas believes that recent news that clubs viz. Juventus, Napoli and Galatasaray have made moves for the forward are wide of the mark.

"I read in the newspapers that Juventus and Napoli were interested in Lukas," he told tuttomercatoweb.it. "But there has been no approach from either of those clubs.

"I don't know if he will go to Italy in this transfer window. I can't say anything for sure. The only certainty is that Lukas has a contract with Arsenal."

Podolski has never quite broken through or made a strong claim for his inclusion in the Arsenal line-up ever since his move to North-London from Bundesliga 2 side Cologne in the summer of 2012. Most of his appearances for Arsenal have come in the form of subs, with the German leading the chart in the Premier League for the most used sub in his first season in England.

It was widely believed that the ex-Bayern Munich man might bring the curtains down on his two-year old Arsenal career in the search of regular football, heading into the prime of his career at 29.

Arsenal however might not be as willing to let the German go as they were seven days ago with reports of Olivier Giroud sustaining a serious ankle injury emerging in the last few days.

Arsene Wenger has also refused to comment on the long-term future of the German international as they head into their crucial Champions League qualifying with Besiktas this Wednesday.

"Podolski is in the squad for Wednesday and will stay with us," he said.
