Football is a beautiful game, where a boy helping to feed his family at six can grow up to be better known as Alexis Sanchez, where a child suffering from a growth hormone deficiency can go on to become the World’s greatest in the form of Lionel Messi, where a cancer survivalist can come on to save his team for relegation right after comeback – Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez. But the real beauty of the sport is seen when a 20-year-old amputee makes it count!

Anybody can play football – a famous phrase embodied in reality by Manchester City FC Amputee player Jay Tregakiss, whose display of skills in this video will drive you crazy!

Jay’s story is sure to motivate one and all. He lost his leg due to a rare form of cancer, but refused to give up on his dream and passion to play football. Before his illness, Jay was on the books at Manchester City. His talent was so immense that he now plays on crutches in the England Amputee Football Association (EAFA) National League.

It is said that one should never give up on hope, because miracles happen everyday, and it is truly magical seeing a guy with one leg and supported on crutches, juggle the ball thrice, lob it over a defender, then cut in inside in Arjen-Robben-esque fashion and burying it past the keeper!

The goal shown above was scored in the Football for All event in Switzerland. It went viral when the EAFA tweeted the video on their official twitter account and was even tipped by many people to be at least nominated for the Puskas Award.

EAFA’s mission is to provide any person with an amputation, congenital deficiency, or other limb affecting disorder the opportunity to access Amputee Football at grassroots, club and national level. Their official website very aptly reads “ If you are a cancer survivor, ex or serving military, or limbless for any other reason, everyone is welcome to try this fantastic sport - You don't need crutches to play this game!“

We sincerely hope that Jay bags the Puskas for his goal and inspires others through his spirits and achievements!
