Reports:Manchester City are set to battle Bayern Munich in the race to get Marco Reus

Marco Reus celebrates after his goal during the Bundesliga match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Muenchen at Allianz Arena

Manchester City are scheduled to compete with Bayern Munich for German international Marco Reus in the next transfer window. Borussia Dortmund, Reus’ current club are resolute to not let the player leave in the January window but they fear they shall be inevitably losing him by next summer.

Reus, has emerged as one of the best forwards in world football lately and his deal runs until 2017 but suprisingly the buyout clause of the footballer is reportedly to be in the range between £20m and £29.4m, an easily affordable range for both his suitors.

Strained relations with Bayern can favour City

The German’s current club Borussia Dortmund have not found form this season, is in the relegation zone at the moment, having lost seven of their 10 Bundesliga matches, and could be an important factor when the time comes for Reus’ departure from Westfalenstadion.

Bayern Munich, the current German Champions have already got Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski from Dortmund in the previous two summer transfer windows. Therefore Die Schwarzgelben (The Black and Yellows) would not like the boyhood Dortmund fan to be another player they lose to their rivals and. Such a situation automatically gives City the advantage.

Manchester City evening news revealed that Manuel Pellegrini’s club are set to go head-to-head with Bayern Munich to sign the German and they are ready to shell out a package worth in excess of £200,000 a week and outbid their competitors on the wage front.

English clubs Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown interest in the 23-year-old, who has represented his country 23 times. But the current Premier League champions are belived to be the favourites to persuade him to the blue side of Manchester.

Frank Lampard to remain a City player for longer than was initially agreed

There have also been reports that Frank Lampard could stay at City beyond December. The 36-year-old former England international is contracted with New York City FC from January 1st but specualtions are rife that his emergence as a useful squad player at Ethihad could make him stay longer than the speculated period.

Lampard is the current joint-scorer this season for the Eastlands team with four goals and has won over the hearts of the supporters.
