Manchester United have sold out their season tickets fastest since 2006

Welcome to Old Trafford

Manchester United have sold out all of their 55000 season tickets ahead of the 2014-15 season.

It is the earliest United have achieved this feat since Old Trafford was expanded to a 76,000 seater stadium in 2006. The remaining 21,000 seats are kept for away fans and Red Devils supporters who want to attend individual matches.

New boss Louis Vaan Gaal has a lot of work to do at Old Trafford

Vaan Gaal needs to relive World Cup heroics at United

The boost in ticket sales can also be attributed to new manager Louis Van Gaal and his heroics with Netherlands at the World Cup. Van Gaal took the Dutchmen till the semi-finals of the tournament, decimating Spain on the way, before losing in penalties to Argentina in the semis.

And the way Van Gaal has inspired the Oranjes at the World Cup, he now has to do the same at Manchester United. Under previous manager David Moyes, the Red Devils finished a dismal 7th in the Premier League table.

David Moyes’ tenure at Manchester United was a huge dissapontment

The three-time European winners, failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, for the first time since 1996. To make matters worse they didn't even make the cut for Europa League, thus staying out of any European competition after 24 long years.

Owing to their dismal 2013-14 season, the club had agreed to reduce corporate seat ticket prices by 15 percent. But now club fans seem to be more positive regarding Van Gaal taking over the reins at Old Trafford.

Adult season tickets at the club cost between £532 and £950 and season ticket holders are automatically allocated and required to buy tickets for home games in FA and League Cup competitions.

Southampton academy product Luke Shaw is now a Manchester United player

New signings of a new era

Van Gaal will make his debut as Manchester United manager in front of Old Trafford on 12 August. In his first outing as United boss, the 62-year-old Dutchman's side will be up against Valencia CF in a pre-season friendly.

The match will also be first time in a Manchester United shirt for new signings Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. United splurged a reported £28 million 18-year-old on Southampton academy product and England left-back Shaw, while midfielder Herrera was snapped up from Athletic Bilbao.
