Manchester United have been branded ‘unprofessional’ by the League Managers Association (LMA) for their handling of the sacking of David Moyes.

Moyes was relieved of his duties yesterday after intense rumours and speculation were rife on Monday that he would be fired soon. All of the British press were reporting the news after a leak from inside the club.

It has been a terrible season for the club as they relinquished their hold on the Premier League in a pitiful manner and have also missed out on Champions League football as they sit down in seventh place. Moyes took over from Sir Alex Ferguson, who won the club’s 20th league title in his final season, but had struggled immensely, breaking a lot of unwanted records.

Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton recorded the double over United as the reigning Premier League champions fell apart in the big games.

After David Moyes released his own statement following his sacking, the LMA have branded Man United as ‘unprofessional’.

LMA chief executive Richard Bevan said: “The LMA is very disappointed with the nature of David’s departure from Manchester United and to read extensive reports in the press, confirming David’s sacking, before David himself had been spoken to officially by the club.

“Throughout his time at United, David, as he always does, has conducted himself with integrity and professionalism, values that he believes in and that have been strongly associated with the club and its rich tradition. It is therefore sad to see the end of David’s tenure at United being handled in an unprofessional manner.”
