Manchester United will give one final shot at Mats Hummels and Aymeric Laporte

With just couple of days left for the transfer window to close, Manchester United will look to give one final shot at signing either Mats Hummels or Aymeric Laporte from Borussia Dortmund and Athletico Bilbao respectively.

According to ESPN FC sources, the Red Devils are looking to sign only those who are “top priority” for them and are willing to wait until the summer if they aren‘t to bring them to Old Trafford during the ongoing transfer window. But considering that both players fall into that category, they are aiming to either of them before the window closes on February 2nd.

Sources have also indicated that the club have received few uplifting signs in the last fortnight or so, with regards to the two players. United had put an unofficial bid on getting the 26-year-old German centre-back in November and the offer hasn't yet been rejected.

When Hummels was earlier asked about the transfer rumours, he said that he didn't wish to comment on it at the moment.

"All those rumours are another issue I have never commented about. I've done that in the past, and I will continue to do so,” he said.

However, considering the tough time Dortmund have been having in the Bundesliga this season, it does seem that it would be hard for them to let go Hummels in the current window.

The Red Devils are also a bit uncertain about signing on Laporte as they are not finding it easy to meet his buy-out clause, despite him willing to move to England. Sources also say that United are keen on signing Aleksandar Dragovic of Dynamo Kyiv, but haven't shown much interest beyond the scouting stage for the 23-year-old Austrian.
