Aurier could move to Manchester with both clubs vying for his signature

According to reports, Manchester United are in for Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier but also face stiff competition for his signature from city rivals Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Napoli as per Infosport+.

It is believed that Manchester United sent scouts to Lens on Tuesday to watch the Ivory Coast international in action for his country against France.

However, Pep Guardiola is also closely monitoring the situation and is said to have spoken to Aurier’s agent about a possible summer move for the player.

Mourinho plans to act sooner and move for the out of favour right back in January, while the expected transfer fee for the defender is expected to around £18 million. This news comes shortly after Aurier’s Ivory Coast manager Sabri Lamouchi said that the player could easily walk into a number of top Premier League clubs.

The controversial right back has had a strange time in Paris with him getting suspended by the club for inappropriate comments about the club’s staff and his teammates on video. The incident caused much outrage within the PSG camp and Aurier was shunned by the club.

United’s defence looks unsure with each passing day as Jose Mourinho is still not certain about Antonio Valencia or Matteo Darmian, with the Italian international set to return to Italy and the Manchester United boss believes that Aurier fits the bill perfectly.

He told L'Equipe, "If you were to put him tomorrow in Arsenal's, Chelsea's or Manchester United's team, he would start.

"An explosive, powerful and quick full-back is exceptional, there aren’t many on the market. He’s not at his best yet, either.”

The 23-year-old made his loan move to PSG permanent in 2015, moving from French club, Toulouse. Aurier does come with a record of bad behaviour with the player getting sentenced to two months in prison for an alleged violence against a French police officer outside a nightclub in Paris in May of this year.

Aurier also ranted on video and insulted then PSG boss Laurent Blanc and his PSG teammates Gregory Van Der Wiel, Edinson Cavani and Salvatore Sirigu.

However, for all his shortcomings, there is no doubt that the Ivory Coast international is a talented player in his position and would certainly add quality to Mourinho’s squad.
