Schneiderlin has struggled for playing time under Jose Mourinho

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has struggled for playing time under Jose Mourinho having made only four appearances for United this season. The French midfielder joined United in a £25million deal last year from Southampton.

However, Jose Mourinho does not consider him vital to his plans, having started Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba in midfield. Now, latest reports from MilanLive suggest that the Serie A giants are interested in securing the services of the out of favour midfielder.

AC Milan were rocked by the news that their captain Ricardo Montolivo was out with an injury for close to 6 months.Vincenzo Montella sees Schneiderlin as the perfect replacement for Montolivo and with Mourinho not starting the French midfielder, Schneiderlin’s move to Milan would suit all parties.

The Serie A giants are hopeful of signing Schneiderlin on a season-long loan in the January transfer window.

Gundogan surprised by Schweinsteiger snub at Manchester United

Manchester United would be better off having midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger in the side, Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan has said of his fellow German, who remains unlikely to figure in manager Jose Mourinho's plans.

After making 18 Premier League appearances last season, 32-year-old Schweinsteiger has failed to turn out for United since the Portuguese coach replaced Louis van Gaal in the close season. Schweinsteiger has also been left out of the side's Europa League squad, with Mourinho confirming that it would be "very difficult" for him to play for the club again.

"I believe that Manchester United could 100 percent benefit from a fit Bastian Schweinsteiger," Gundogan told Sport Bild magazine.

"He's not just some player, and also not only 18 or 19."

Gundogan, who was named in Germany's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers after almost a year out of the side due to injury problems, believes he can fill the void for his country following Schweinsteiger's international retirement.

"I trusted myself to do that before (Schweinsteiger's retirement), but this has nothing to do with saying his retirement is positive or negative. We should be thankful that we had such a great player," he added.

Gundogan has impressed in his few appearances for Manchester City and he will be hoping to continue his good form and remain injury free when he plays for the German national team on Saturday.
