The Manipur girls team has defended their Junior National Girls Football Championship title with a 3-0 win against the hosts Odisha at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Thursday.
The final was a repeat from last years with once more the Manipuri girls proving the dominance of the Northeastern state in the women’s game, be it senior or junior.
The Manipuri girls went ahead in the 18th minute through a N. Ratanbala Devi. After the break Dangmei Grace scored a brace in the 51st and 62nd minute to ensure Manipur’s victory.
The personal awards went to Nyitsarho of Nagaland as best goalkeeper, Rokosenvo Meyase of Nagaland as best defender, S. Muthuselvi of Tamil Nadu as Best midfielder, Pyari Khaka of Odisha as Best striker, while N. Ratanbala of Manipur was adjudged as player of the final.
