German international Marco Reus will remain at Borussia Dortmund, ESPN FC reports. Total Sport agency, the 26-year-old’s representatives stated that the player is happy at the club and is looking forward to continuing his career at the Signal Iduna Park.
The attacking midfielder has been attracting interest from a number of major clubs across Europe’s major leagues with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, Serie A champions Juventus and Spanish club Real Madrid reportedly keen on securing his services.
Reus’ representatives have however chosen to come out and pour cold water on the speculations by stating that their client is happy with his present club.
"We read the rumours that are circulating about an alleged transfer for Marco. We can say with certainty that the player is having a wonderful time at Dortmund,” read the statement released by Total Sports agency, as reported by Tuttojuve.com.
Reus, who is known for his speed, versatility and technique, as was evident in his brilliant solo goal against one of his potential suitors in Juventus, came through the youth ranks at Borussia Dortmund before leaving for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2009.
However, after a three-year spell, he returned to his roots in 2012 and soon established himself as a vital member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, thus attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs. Reus seemed to have put any doubts about his future to bed after signing a contract extension in February this year with Dortmund, keeping him at the club until 2019.

"I am very happy with my decision to stick with BVB. Dortmund is my hometown and my club is Borussia,” Reus said at the time of signing the contract, as reported by the official Borussia Dortmund website. "I look forward to enjoying a successful future with our team, with our fantastic fans behind us. There is plenty for us to do, and I want to tackle it all head on!"
Klopp’s decision to leave the club at the end of the 2014/15 season, however, kept the rumour mill running in spite of the player stating in recent weeks that he was looking forward to playing under new manager Thomas Tuchel as the club looks to rebuild after a disappointing campaign, as per the report by ESPN.
His agency has however clarified that Reus will be honouring the new contract in spite of the interest from the big clubs. “He is flattered by the interest of many European teams, but recently decided to stay in Dortmund, Tuttojuve.com reported.
