Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus has been fined €540,000 after police found him driving on the streets without a license for the past three years. The 25-year-old has played nine games for his club so far this season across all competitions and has scored five goals.

The Police said that Reus got five tickets for exceeding the speed limit during this period, but the cops never caught him driving without a license all this time. The winger was fined 90 Tagessätze (daily rates). The daily rate is calculated based on the person’s income and family situation. Reus is single and earns in the range of €60000 and €65000 per week.

German magazine Focus explained that Reus, apparently first started driving at the age of 18, but never went for his license test. As he never into any trouble all this while, he carried on driving without the permit.

"I then unfortunately decided to go that route. I can not comprehend the reasons even today," Reus said.

The amount fined equals Reus’s earnings in nine weeks. It has been reported that he wants €230000 a week from the four clubs-Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, who are interested in buying him in the coming summer.

He wasn’t part of Germany’s World cup winning campaign earlier this year.
