Mauricio Pochettino: Luis Suarez is one the best in the world

Luis Suarez

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted his admiration for Luis Suarez and feels the Uruguayan could be the catalyst for Liverpool’s title challenge.

Suarez was involved in all three goals as Liverpool brushed aside Pochettino’s Southampton side at St Mary’s on Saturday, scoring one, assisting another and being felled for a penalty as Liverpool marched on with a 3-0 victory and ended his personal drought in front of goal.

The Saints’ boss was full of praise for his tormentor in chief following the match, describing the striker as one of the ‘best in the world’, claiming he could be the reason Liverpool finally break their Premier League title duck.

Pochettino told reporters, “He’s one of the best in the world, that is clear.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the world and he’s definitely been showing that throughout this entire season.

“He’s been showing that skill, that quality that makes him one of the best in the world, that’s for sure.

“I think they (Liverpool) are a definite candidate to win the league. They have the right players to mount a very good challenge to win the league.”

Suarez has now netted 24 goals in just 23 appearances to lift Liverpool into second in the table currently, just four points behind leaders Chelsea.
