Mesut Ozil’s return should boost the gunners who beat City to win the Community shield

Arsenal’s German World Cup winning contingent were back in London to train with their team mates ahead of the new season. Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski watched their side thrash Manchester City 3-0 to win the community shield last sunday and now their presence will boost the squad further ahead of their opening Premier League fixture at home against Crystal Palace.

Ozil had earlier tweeted about his excitement ahead of the Champions League play-off draw and once Besitkas had been drawn to play against them, he seemed to be up for the challenge. The trio would now be looking to replicate their national form in club colours in order to help Arsenal win their first Premier League title in eleven years. But since they arrived just less than a week before the first game of the league, they probably won’t be involved in it.

Ozil and Podolski also congratulated the veteran German striker Miroslav Klose on his retirement from International football.
