Michael Owen had predicted the top six and bottom three in the Premier League back in August

Poor Michael Owen, he never seems to catch a break. The former England footballer has had a storied career in the Premier League with clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United while also turning out in the all-white of Real Madrid at his peak.

But as good as he was on the football pitch, he hasn’t exactly lit up the TV screen after becoming a pundit. Owen has not exactly been a breath of fresh air when it comes to expert analysis. Some of his “expert opinions” are so mundane that they basically just state the obvious.

Before the Premier League season got underway, Owen had made a bold prediction on who would finish in the top four and who would find themselves in the relegation zone come May 2016. It is safe to say that none of those predictions have gone according to the script – so far.

Owen had predicted Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City to finish in the top four followed by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur taking up the Europa League spots. He had also predicted that newly-promoted sides AFC Bournemouth and Watford would finish 18th and 20th joining Leicester City in facing the drop.

To be fair, nobody saw Chelsea’s implosion coming, especially since they are the defending champions. The Blues are now in 15th place while the Foxes, who miraculously survived relegation last season, are now top of the table after losing just one game in the league all season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester City are fighting it out for second spot while the Red Devils’ poor run of form has seen them drop out of the top four. Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs have moved up to fourth while Liverpool's roller-coaster season continues under Jurgen Klopp.

But Watford and Bournemouth have been the surprise packages picking up vital wins and are in the top four of the current form table! Led by Odion Ighalo’s goalscoring exploits, Watford are now seventh! Bournemouth have also claimed historic wins over both Chelsea and Manchester United.

Of course, Owen was trolled big time on Twitter with his tweets now being retweeted more than 6,000 times. And now, Owen has tweeted again to let fans know that nobody could have predicted Leicester City’s rise and Chelsea’s fall at the start of the season.
