NorthEast United FC have announced that they have acquired the services of defender Miguel Garcia for the second season of the Indian Super League. Garcia, who played in the I-League with Sporting Clube de Goa this season, will return to the club where he first was involved in Indian football through the ISL.

Garcia, 32, has played at the highest level with European clubs such as Sporting Lisbon in his native Portugal and Mallorca in Spain. He has more than 200 appearances for various clubs all across Europe.

The defender played 13 of the 14 games in last season's Indian Super League, where NorthEast United finished bottom of the league. He will be hoping for a better result this time around. The club took to twitter to announce the signing of the popular defender
