Mohalla Football Festival

The Football Link Trust, a Delhi based not for profit organization, and the Delhi Police are jointly organizing the Mohalla Football Festival 2013 from 29th – 31st October at the Ambedkar Stadium and Delhi Armed Police grounds, Vikaspuri. Football teams from Delhi Police CYDP centers, surrounding slums and partner NGOs participate in various free football tournaments, multiple coaching sessions and nutrition & medical camps during the festival. This one of its kind football festival for 500+ underprivileged children is being supported by One World Futbol, Coaches Across Continents, Slum Soccer India, Special Olympics Bharat, FICCI, Delhi Soccer Association, Football Players Association of India, Wockhardt Foundation, Magic Bus, Save the Children and other organizations.

On the first two days, Mr. Nick Gates and Ms. Nora Dooley from Coaches Across Continents are conducting workshops on ‘Child Development techniques through sports’ for 60+ Delhi Police mentors and Football coaches from Delhi. Coaches across Continents is an internationally acclaimed organization that uses football as a vehicle for social change and have impacted more than 120,000 children across 20+ countries including Brazil, Cambodia, Jamaica, Indonesia, Kenya, Zambia, Liberia, Ghana and Sudan.

On the 31st, 16 NGO teams and 16 Delhi Police-CYDP teams will participate in a Futsal tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium along with multiple Coaching and Scouting camps for the children participating in the festival. Wockhardt Foundation and Save the Children will also organize Nutrition and Medical camps during the festival.
