Mohun Bagan targeting former Cameroon striker Pierre Boya

Pierre Boya (no.11) in action against Arsenal

Former Cameroon striker Pierre Boya is on Mohun Bagan’s radar, according to a TOI report.

30-year-old Boya is currently playing for Albanian top tier club Kukesi and qualifies as a marquee foreigner for the I-League as he played in the UEFA Champions League group stage in the 2010-11 campaign for Serbian club Partizan Belgrade.

Boya has represented Cameroon four times at international level but hasn’t featured for the Indomitable Lions since 2007.

If the deal with Boya doesn’t work out, Lebanon international striker Akram Moghrabi is another option for the Mariners to fulfil the marquee foreigner criteria.

Moghrabi has previously played in the I-League for Churchill Brothers and has appeared in the final round of the World Cup qualifiers also.

The green-and-maroon brigade are also in advanced talks with Haiti playmaker Sony Norde, who impressed while playing for Bangladesh’s Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi in the 2014 IFA Shield.

Mohun Bagan have confirmed the registration of 20 players for the upcoming season. The list includes new signings Lalkamal Bhowmick, Vinay Singh, Dhanachandra Singh, Souvik Chakraborti, Tirthankar Sarkar and Debjit Majumder.

Japanse Katsumi Yusa is the only foreigner registered so far with newly-signed Nigerian central defender Fatai Adisa Alao yet to arrive in India.
