Jose Mourinho called up Wesley Sneijder just two minutes after the UCL draw

Coach Jose Mourinho and Wesley Sneijder of Inter FC during the Serie A match between AC Milan and Inter Milan at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on August 29, 2009 in Milan, Italy.

Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder revealed that his former boss Jose Mourinho called him immediately after the Champions League draw.

Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder told Turkish media that his former manager Jose Mourinho tried to get some information out of the Dutch midfielder after it was revealed that Chelsea will be facing Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League Knockout round.

“Just two minutes after the draw, the phone rang and it was none other than Jose Mourinho. He asked some crafty questions about team tactics, players, trying to obtain information, but he could not fool me – I have played football for many years and know what is being asked and what to say. We will see how the team plays and if we can beat them,” said Sneijder.

Sneijder and Mourinho have been close friends since their Inter days where Sneijder played his best football under Mourinho.

“Mourinho knows us well and that is an advantage but the same applies for us, we know Mourinho very well, perhaps better than the Chelsea players know us,” said the 29-year-old,” he further added.

The first-leg of their two-legged clash against the Blues will take place at the Turk Telekom Arena in Turkey on 27 February (1.15 AM IST).
