Paul Dummett says he dreamed of scoring against Liverpool

Newcastle United v Liverpool - Premier League

Paul Dummett

Paul Dummett came as a substitute in the match against Liverpool last Saturday, after the sending-off of fellow defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. He cherished every bit of his debut goal for Newcastle United.

He said: “I actually dreamt about scoring the night before so this really is a dream come true.

“Maybe I should dream about it more often. Hopefully I’ll score more that way. To score, and get one at the Gallowgate End just makes it even better.

“When I scored I didn’t know where to run. All of the fans came running down the Gallowgate End – it was crazy.

“It is something I’ve never experienced before and might never again. You have to cherish these moments.

“I’d scored two for St Mirren but nothing is like scoring in front of 50,000 Geordie fans. That’s something I’ve dreamt of all my career.”

He further added: “I will go out and give the manager a headache.

“Hopefully I’m involved because it is such a big game. It is another step, I just need to keep going. It is only just starting.

“I’ve done nothing yet in football. This is my only second Premier League game of my career.

“I just need to keep my feet on the ground and working hard for the club.”
