The world of football witnessed an emotional farewell to Paul Scholes, the Ginger Prince, who waved goodbye to the beautiful game last night in a packed Old Trafford stadium.
The down-to-earth and shy genius known as Manchester United‘s midfield maestro and the king of long range shots, did what he has been doing best throughout his career. Scholesy opened the scoring in the match against New York Cosmos with a screamer from outside the box and rolled back golden memories of the most famous strikes from his career. As Scholes wove his magic on the field, the footballing world watched in awe, smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes, knowing that they were seeing the genius at work for the last time.
Manchester went on to thump New York Cosmos with a resounding 6-0 win in the testimonial. Rooney, Anderson, Welbeck, Diouf(2) got themselves on the scorecard.
