Was Pep in favour of London over Manchester?

Arsenal celebrity fan Piers Morgan has made a claim that Pep Guardiola was supposedly keen on replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer and Gunners’ legend Thierry Henry would have been his No. 2.

The famous television personality is a very popularly known follower of the London club and has often been very vocal of removing Wenger and a stand that has only strengthened after his latest update.

Arsenal slipped up once again in the title race as they lost to Swansea at home, leading to several protests against Wenger and the board. Morgan has never shied away from expressing his displeasure of the Frenchman and has shown it many times on Social Media.

This time, he claims to have found out from a reliable source that Bayern Munich's outgoing boss was willing to take the reigns at Arsenal. And had also wished Henry would be his right-hand man, a player who Guardiola has worked with before.

Here is the official tweet from his account:

Guardiola recently signed a contract with Manchester City agreeing to take over from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.Several clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal were reportedly after the Spaniard but he chose to go to City instead.

Before the move the former Barcelona coach had stated in a press conference that he would not be renewing his contract with Bayern because he wanted to manage in England. There were also several rumours which suggested he wanted to take over at Arsenal but they turned out to be false.

City and Arsenal keep faltering in title race

It seems Pep Guardiola couldn't get here sooner as City are currently suffering a poor run of results in the Premier League. After winning the Capital One Cup in Sunday against Liverpool they capitulated against the Reds at Anfield in the League just three days later.

Arsenal also managed to somehow throw away an opportunity to close the gap on Leicester by surprisingly slumping to a 2-1 defeat at home to struggling Swansea City. They are now 6 points adrift of the summit, facing immense pressure from their fans.

This Saturday might prove to be the Gunners’s last chance to stay in the race as they face Tottenham Hotspur which is building up to be the most important North London derby in years.
