The President of the Catalan giants has warned Gerard Pique to mend his off-field behavior after being involved in a number of incidents this season. Josep Bartomeu, the Barcelona President has suggested the defender to stop his off-the-field indiscretions and to improve his performances on the field.

The Spain international has not been in his top form this season for the Catalonian side and has been making news for his conduct off the football field and also there has been a drop in his footballing standards.

The husband of famous pop singer Shakira was reported to have been part of an incident which involved the police for a parked car. He recently came to the news for a dispute between him and head coach Luis Enrique who was irked after Pique was seen using his mobile phone in the dugout in course of an ongoing match.

It has been reported by 8TV that the 51-year-old has emphasized that he did not care much for the centre-back’s long-term prospects, but he wished that the footballer makes more efforts to improve his performances once more.

"Pique isn't playing with the same continuity as before, but there's no problem with him," he says. "We have spoken with him about some incidents and he knows what we think. These things shouldn't be happening.”

"I hope that this is the end of it. Pique - and all other players - should be focused on his job," he adds.

The 27-year-old has made just five La Liga starts this season but has pledged to fight for his place under Luis Enrique and stay at the club.
