Liverpool look to end their season on a high note as they play hosts to despondent Chelsea in the penultimate game for the hosts in the English Premier League this season. Jurgen Klopp’s men will look to sign off at Anfield this season on a high as they prepare for their Europa League final in a little over a week from now.

Chelsea, however, will look to put a nightmare season behind them as Guus Hiddink looks to end his interim tenure with the boys in blue, sending their fans a sweet goodbye gift at the expense of Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Guus Hiddink was kind enough to brand this Chelsea season ‘a disaster’ as the Blues have nothing to play for at this late stage in the season. Their league position cannot possibly be improved upon now and their cabinet does not glitter with any silverware this season.

Liverpool, however, could play for a finish as high as 5th with 6th place seemingly much more of a possibility. Jurgen Klopp is set to name a full strength team while Chelsea have a bit of a crisis to deal with as both Diego Costa and John Terry are out.

Branislav Ivanovic and Kurt Zouma are also out with injuries leaving Chelsea with Gary Cahill and Matt Miazga as their defensive pair in all probability.

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino would be relishing their battle against the reshaped Chelsea back line while Adam Lallana would be looking to take Abdul Rahman Baba to the sword. Emre Can and Nemanja Matic could be in for a battle as well with the Chelsea anchorman desperate to finish the season strongly.

With Diego Costa out with injury and Loic Remy not in any better shape, Radamel Falcao could be asked to start the game unless Alexandre Pato finds himself in good enough shape and form to be able to make a difference.

With so much happening all around, there seems little doubt that we are in for an exciting fixture at Anfield. With the Kop gathered in full voice, this could end up becoming a tough one for Chelsea and for anyone, the smart money will be on Liverpool to continue their impressive run of form as they march onto Basel.
