Puma evoSPEED 1.4 football boots hit the stores in July 2015. After releasing evoSPEED SL and evoSPEED SL Camo, Puma introduced evoSPEED 1.4. The SL (Super Light) versions of these football boots are gold. They weigh only 103g and are the lightest available commercial football boots. Definitely a Puma First.

Puma evoSPEED succeeds evoSPEED 1.3. Puma evoSPEED 1.4 should be a better alternative to the SL version of the football boots for these boots only last for ten games.

Total Eclipse/Lava Blast/White and Lava Blast/White/Total Eclipse are the launch colorways. We see unique Puma lettering on the forefoot area of this wonderful football boot.

Looking closer, we find a super soft and super thin microfiber material for the upper. This lightweight material blended with Griptex technology should provide supreme first touch. Griptex is a 3D transparent print on the upper that offers ultimate grip in all weather conditions. It is similar to NSG seen on Adidas Ace 15.1 and Adidas X 15.1. You will also experience incredible ball control in both dry and wet weather conditions. Apart from this, we see a new Speedframe construction. This offers vital lightweight stability.

When compared with the outsole of evoSPEED 1.3, the latest generation of the football boot offers no change design wise. It houses an external heel counter for added stability. The FG version features conical studs with Duoflex technology for better rotational agility. AG version boasts a combination of both conical and bladed studs for enhanced acceleration. The heel area boasts four studs while the forefoot area houses eight studs. We see a PEBAX Nylon outsole, which offers mind-blogging levels of reactivity and stability during those ultimate high-speed sprints. This should also offer superior lockdown along with superior torsional stability.

Puma athletes such as Sergio Agüero and Marco Reus will not be wearing evoSPEED 1.4. They will instead wear brand new evoSPEED SL.

Puma evoSPEED 1.4 is available for FG (Firm Ground), AG (Artificial Grass) and SG (Soft Ground). The FG version is best suited for natural grass while the SG version is for soft playing surfaces. AG version of the football boot should offer remarkable acceleration on artificial grass playing surface.

The FG version and AG version of Puma evoSPEED 1.4 retails at £120 i.e., around 12,000INR while the Mixed SG version retails at £130 i.e., around 13,000INR (Interestingly, this is much lower than the launch price of evoSPEED 1.3).

The leather version of the football boot retails at £140 i.e., around 14,000INR. The SL version retails at £180 i.e., around 18,000INR. Puma also released lower tier versions of evoSPEED, evoSPEED 3.4 (£70 i.e., around 7,000INR), 4.4 (£50 i.e., around 5,000INR) and 5.4 (£40 i.e., around 4,000INR).

Availability in India is TBA.

Bottom-line: A much better alternative to evoSPEED SL.
