This was more than just a friendly game between England and Ecuador.
What was supposed to be a warm up game turned into a brawl when Raheem Sterling made a very rash tackle on Antonio Valencia. Club rivalry came to the forefront as the Manchester United man grabbed the Liverpool starlet by the neck and shoved him before team mates came to separate the two.
But the referee was least amused and sent both the players off after order was restored.
It’s hard to fault Valencia for getting so worked up though as the tackle could have broken his leg had his foot still been planted on the ground.
