Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was annoyed by ‘Messi’ chants from Ludogorets fans

Real Madrid beat a spirited Ludogorets 2-1 this week in the Champions League with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema scoring.

But it wasn’t the best of days for the Portuguese star who failed to convert a penalty before scoring from the next one that was awarded.

And his day got even worse with fans from the Bulgarian side provoking him by chanting Lionel Messi’s name whenever he got the ball.

Ronaldo was not at all happy with the question when he was asked if it affected his game.

‘Fans should be happy to see Real Madrid players’

When asked in the mixed zone where journalists mix with players, he said: “It's been twelve years since I played at the highest level. How do you want me to comment on these things?

“People should be happy to see Real Madrid and its stars playing here.”

This isn’t the first time Ronaldo has been annoyed by comparisons with his arch rival from Barcelona. Back in 2012, he was asked about Messi after Portugal beat Denmark 3-2.

"You know where Messi was at this time last season? He was eliminated from the Copa America in his own country.

“So I think that's worse, right?”

Ronaldo or Messi could break Raul’s Champions League record this season

Ronaldo is currently on 69 goals in the Champions League while Messi is on 68.

Either one of these players could break Raul’s all-time record of 71 Champions League goals this season itself.
