Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo intends to file a complaint against Proto Group consultancy company for publishing false information about him in recent months regarding his involvement in business deals.

An official spokesperson for Ronaldo told Efe that the company, specialising in providing consultancy services, recently linked Ronaldo's name with a project to acquire one of Brazil's shanty towns, which was denied by the Real Madrid forward.

Proto Group also linked Ronaldo's name with a deal to acquire a hotel in one of Monte Carlo's most prestigious areas in Monaco, as well as buying an apartment in New York and taking part in a movie directed by American filmmaker Martin Scorsese, which was also denied by the Portugal captain.

The company, managed by businessman Alessandro Proto, is based in London, and specialises in funding, insurance, real estate and taxes, according to its official website.

Proto Group has also linked the names of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, singer Madonna, actor Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie as well as other public figures with millions of dollars' worth of business deals involving the company.

Ronaldo's spokesperson stressed that news involving the former Manchester United star's personal or professional life has to originate from his sole official sources, and the press has to stop spreading false news aiming to deceive public opinion for its own benefit.
