According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are close to signing Brazilian wonder kid Robert Kenedy from Fluminense for a reported £6.3 million. The 19-year-old left-footed attacker, who plays either as a secondary striker or a right winger, could follow fellow U-20 international Nathan to Stamford Bridge after the latter signed from Atletico Paranaense last month.

Kenedy shot to prominence with his performance at the U-17 South America Championships, finishing as Brazil’s top scorer with six goals. He had no shortage of suitors since then, but the Brazilian starlet has long admired Chelsea.

“My ambition is to play one day in Europe. I like Chelsea because of players like Oscar and Ramires. I like the whole team,” he had said in 2013.

Boasting a strong Brazilian contingent, eight to be precise, Chelsea will in all probability loan Kenedy once he completes the move, with attacking forwards aplenty at Jose Mourinho’s disposal. According to reports in Brazil, Kenedy’s rights have been sold to an investment company, who will now arrange the transfer to Chelsea, with his parent club set to receive 55% of the transfer fee.

The teen prodigy has been capped seven times for the Brazil U-20 side and scored this stunner against Venezuela in the U-20 South American championship.
