Report: Manchester United set to offer Michael Carrick new 12-month deal

Carrick has been out with a calf injury for four weeks

Michael Carrick is all set to sign a one-year contract extension with Manchester United. Carrick’s current deal with United is set to run out in June.

The 33-year-old has been a crucial member of Louis van Gaal’s revamped side this season after returning from an ankle injury in November. Incidentally, Carrick’s return coincided with a struggling United picking up some form after a shaky start before a calf injury sidelined him once more.

Carrick currently earns £130,000-per-week and has spoken of his interest to stay with the Red Devils. It is believed that both Van Gaal and assistant coach Ryan Giggs are admirers of the experienced midfielder and will be keen to secure his services for the next month.

Carrick is thought to have recovered from his injury and will be featuring in U21 games to increase his match fitness.
