Arsenal could hand Iker Casillas a five-year deal if he moves to the Emirates this summer, according to Spanish newspaper El Economista.

Casillas struggled in Spain’s opening clash of the World Cup against the Netherlands, but the Spanish daily are reporting that Wenger is keen to add Casillas to his squad ahead of next season.

Santi Cazorla revealed that Arsenal held an interest in Casillas in April of this year, and Wenger is ready to give Casillas the opportunity to play considerable first-team football should he choose to make the switch to the Premier League.

Arsenal have already lost Lukasz Fabianski to Swansea this summer, with no clear option to alternate with Wojcech Sczezeny. The addition of a player with Casillas’s experience could be invaluable.

One stumbling block could be Casillas’s loyalty towards Real Madrid, the club with whom he’s spent his entire career. He has only recently fallen down the pecking order at the Champions League winners, losing his place to Diego Lopez during Jose Mourinho’s last season at the club.
