Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking at bringing legendary striker Didier Drogba back to the club this summer in a bid to reignite the relationship between the pair who forged a successful team in their early Chelsea days, according to the Daily Mail.

Drogba, 36, joined Chelsea in 2004 when Jose Mourinho signed him from Ligue 1 club Marseille. They then both worked so well together that Drogba led Chelsea’s attack to two straight Premier League titles, as well as an FA Cup and a League Cup triumph.

He left Chelsea in 2012 after scoring the winning penalty in the shootout against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. He scored a late equaliser to take the game to extra-time then stepped up to side foot himself into history and saw the Blues lift their first European Cup.

The Ivory Coast striker then joined Galatasaray but left at the end of the season, just before representing his country at the World Cup.

He could make his way back to Stamford Bridge as a back-up to their new £32 million signing Diego Costa, effectively ending his career with Chelsea.

Mourinho will also try and convince Drogba to take up a player/coach role as his playing days come to an end.
