Reports: Cristiano Ronaldo has agreement to join Paris Saint-Germain

Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo has scored 51 goals for Real Madrid this season

Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to seal a transfer for the Portuguese. PSG have been strongly linked with a move for the Real Madrid star in the past few seasons and now with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving, the French club are said to be front-runners for the forward. Los Blancos though have yet to finalise the deal as they are still looking for a suitable replacement.

Speaking to the Secret Footballer, Balague said, “Ronaldo and Real Madrid are trying to part company but Madrid want the right money for him, and the right substitute.

“But there is nobody in the market to replace Cristiano. Robert Lewandowski, of Bayern Munich, could be the one but he doesn’t want to play alongside Cristiano, he feels they fill similar gaps.

"Mendes has got a deal with Paris Saint-Germain but that is pending the transfer fee Madrid wants. If Real think nobody can replace him, then they will renew his contract.”

Indeed, there is nobody in the world at the moment who can replace the goal-scoring prowess of the 31-year-old as he has had another astonishing season for Real Madrid. Ronaldo has scored 51 goals in just 47 appearances, dishing out 15 assists as well. He also became the first player in history to score 50 or more goals in six consecutive seasons.

Champions League final awaits for Madrid clubs

Real Madrid are due to contest the Champions League final against arch rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan on 28 May. If Balague is to be believed this could potentially be the last game Cristiano plays for Real.

Ronaldo has largely been responsible for their place in the final having had another incredible season in Europe. Not only is he the all-time top scorer of Europe’s premier club competition with 94 goals, but also possesses the single season record of 17 set in the La Decima season of 2013/14. He is already on 16 this season, scoring three hat-tricks, including one in a stunning comeback victory against Wolfsburg after Madrid lost the first leg 0-2.

If Ronaldo were to leave Los Merengues at the end of the season, what a stay it has been for him. His insatiable appetite for goal-scoring has seen him become the all-time top scorer for the Bernabeu club having scored a mind-boggling 365 goals in just 347 games, with 37 hat-tricks.

Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez though will be trying their best to tie down the star to the club as supporters are sure to react with fury if they sell one of the greatest players.
