Reports: Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge suffers fresh injury, may return only in 2015

Daniel Sturridge has only played 3 Premier League matches this season

England and Liverpool frontman Daniel Sturridge will not return to action anytime soon, according to reports of a fresh long-term injury suffered by him in the Merseyside training ground on Tuesday.

A scan is slated for Wednesday to assess the thigh injury picked up in training, but initial reports suggest that he will be able to return only in 2015. Sturridge picked up a thigh strain in September, and a calf strain in October, and has already been on the recuperation list for a while.

It was only last week that he had returned to full training at Melwood.

Sturridge scored 25 goals last season, and his club are languishing at 11th place without him, and struggling to find a source of goals.

Mario Balotelli, towards whom a lot of criticism has been directed in recent times, is also in doubt for the 23rd November match against Crystal Palace, after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with Italy.
