Reports: David Luiz, Edinson Cavani reluctant to return to Paris Saint-Germain after terror attacks

The PSG duo are said to be unwilling to return to the club sans the tragic events on Saturday

Paris Saint-Germain teammates David Luiz and Edinson Cavani have expressed their reluctance to travel back to Paris in the wake of one of the worst terrorist attacks on France in recent history on Saturday according to reports in the Daily Mail.

This development comes on the heels of the shocking terror attacks in France where an estimated 126 people were killed by gunmen and suicide bombers. Among the casualties reported, three people were killed near the Stade de France which was hosting a friendly between the hosts and Germany.

Luiz, who is away on national duty, has made public his fears of coming back to the French capital after the attacks.

"I have my girlfriend, family and friends in Paris. They were sad and frightened. I do not know what I’ll do if I’m going back there. It’s my job but if it were up to me, I would stay," the defender is supposed to have said.

The Brazilian is currently with the national team that drew 1-1 against Argentina in a FIFA 2018 qualifier. Luiz was sent off in the second half of the tie for an unnecessary challenge much to the dismay of manager Carlos Dunga. Brazil next play Peru on Tuesday.

PSG return to action at Lorient on Saturday, November 21 before a Champions League clash in Malmo four days later. The Ligue 1 leaders' next home game is against Troyes on November 28.

Edinson said he would rather not have to go: Alvaro Gonzalez

Luiz’s teammate Edinson Cavani is another player who is said to be considering not to return to the French capital. The Uruguayan striker is currently also on national duty. Uruguay take on Copa America champions Chile in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

The striker is supposed to have conveyed his thoughts to Uruguay teammate Alvaro Gonzalez who was speaking in a news conference ahead of their World Cup qualifier.

"This is horrible, for football and for the city," Gonzalez said.

"They spoke of the fact that David Luiz would not return to Paris and Edinson said he would rather not have to go either."

The 28-year-old signed for the French champions in 2013 and has scored 65 goals in 111 appearances since his big-money move from Italian side Napoli.
