Reports: Liverpool in advanced talks with Swansea over Wilfried Bony

Wilfried Bony to Liverpool?

Liverpool will make a £19 million move to Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony once their star player, Luis Suarez, has confirmed his record-breaking move to Barcelona, according to the Metro. While Sky Sports’ Peter O’Rourke believes Liverpool are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign the powerhouse.

Suarez, 27, is set to seal a £75m move to the Nou Camp over the coming days which has forced Liverpool into looking at replacements, or at least plenty of options to make up for his quality.

The Uruguayan scored 31 goals in 33 Premier League games last season, 10 more than any other player in the division. He will be sorely missed but the Reds are hoping that Bony, who scored 15 goals for Swansea in his debut season in the league, can help make up for his loss. In total, the Ivory Coast international scored 25 goals in 48 appearances and even grabbed two goals at the World Cup in Brazil. Bony has been targeted by Spurs this summer too.

He certainly knows where the goal is considering he scored 31 goals in 30 appearances for Vitesse Arnhem in his final season in the Eredivisie before signing for Swansea. It is thought that Liverpool are prepared to pay his release clause, which is believed to be £19m. It will be a small chunk of the Suarez fee, which the Reds are demanding that Barcelona pay in full and up front, which could be the reason for the delay in the transfer being announced. It is also believed that Bony is warming to the idea of playing for Liverpool, eyeing them up as his first choice.
