What's the story?
Daniel Sturridge's stint at Anfield began extremely well, with the striker scoring 35 goals in 49 appearances for Liverpool, in his first two seasons. Sturridge struck up an impressive partnership with Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling, with the trio scoring 61 goals between them during Liverpool's title run in the 2013-14 Premier League campaign.
However, since then, the English striker's career has nosedived rapidly, with a spate of injuries forcing him out of the squad. According to reports from the Mirror, Sturridge has grown resentful of his role as Roberto Firmino's understudy this season, and will try to secure regular playing time by leaving Liverpool in January.
In case you didn't know...
Sturridge began his professional career at Manchester City in 2006, and spent three seasons at the club, scoring 5 goals in 21 appearances. A lack of playing time persuaded Sturridge to sign for Chelsea in 2009, where the striker was considerably more successful.
Sturridge won the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup while at Chelsea, scoring 24 goals along the way for the Londoners.
However, Sturridge's role did not change significantly, and a majority of the striker's appearances came off the bench for Chelsea. His desire to start more regularly led to him making a move to Liverpool in 2012, where he has scored 63 goals in 131 appearances.
The heart of the matter
A succession of injuries has seen the striker fall out of favour in recent years, and even though he has been relatively fit in the last few months, Jurgen Klopp has preferred to start Robert Firmino. Sturridge has made only four starts for Liverpool in 12 league games this season, scoring two goals.
Sturridge's lack of appearances may impact his chances to play for England at the World Cup, and the striker reportedly wants a chance to show England boss Gareth Southgate that he still has what it takes.

While Sturridge may be extremely injury-prone, he is still widely regarded as one of the best finishers in the Premier League, and if he can avoid getting injured for a few weeks, a club might consider taking him on. However, a loan deal seems more likely than a transfer because Liverpool will not allow him to leave for cheap.
