Neymar’s future has been subject to intense speculation

Barcelona star Neymar’s future has been subject to intense speculation in the last few months and now new reports from Mundo Deportivo claim that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is going on an all-out offensive to secure the signing of the Barcelona superstar.

Barcelona chiefs have tried convincing Neymar to sign a new contract, but with the Brazilian still yet to sign a new deal, Manchester United believe that they can pull off this high-profile transfer.

Earlier reports had stated that Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain had all sent their representatives to Brazil to convince Neymar, however, Barcelona are also trying their best to tie down Neymar to a new deal.

There were constant reports of Neymar joining Real Madrid, but his father put those reports to rest:

“The possibility of him ending up there is zero," he stated.

“Neymar’s owners are Barcelona,” he reiterated. “Any proposals, any notifications, or any formality that comes in respect to Neymar, without question passes through Barcelona and Barcelona alone. He’s still under contract with the club and they know everything that’s going on.”

“There’s lots of speculation and it’s clear he’s become mixed up in all that. People know that there are various clubs interested in him for his football, but they don’t want to say that he’s talking to them or having any dealings.

"People have said 10,000 different things about my son. Neymar has a contract at Barcelona, and he has two years left. That’s the only certainty. He has to obey that contract, besides, he’s happy at the club. The speculation will go on like it has been for a while, but everyone’s used it by now.”

With Real Madrid now out of the race, it looks like it is between Manchester United and PSG for the Barcelona superstar. Jose Mourinho has been busy ever since he has become Manchester United manager, already having signed Eric Bailly and sealing new contracts for Marcus Rashford, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Michael Carrick.

Jose Mourinho is said to have made the signing of Neymar his number one priority and he is leaving no stone unturned in order to get the Brazilian captain to Old Trafford.

The signing of Neymar will be a real sign of intent from the Premier League giants and although they will not have Champions League football next season, the prospect of working with Jose Mourinho in the Premier League might interest Neymar.
