Rio Ferdinand: Lets not get carried away with Suarez and Sturridge partnership

Rio Ferdinand has insisted Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez’s partnership needs to be given time to develop as many pile on the praise for the duo who have set the Premier League alight this season.

The pair have combined to score 14 goals together, the same as Manchester United and Everton in the league so far.

But Ferdinand, suggest fans shouldn’t be so quick to heap praise on the pair.

“In this country and in football in general I think we build people up too quickly,” explained Ferdinand on BT Sport.

“That’s not to say they’re not a great partnership – they’re proven at the moment. They’re on top of their game and they’re playing very very well. They’ve scored some great goals.

“But I think you judge partnerships over a period of time. Look at Yorke and Cole, Sheringham and Shearer. These types of partnerships aren’t developed overnight over a course of part of a season, it’s over a period of time. So I think it’s better to give these people time.”

Ferdinand has played six Premier League matches this season, winning 100% of his tackles (5/5) and won 56% of his headed duels.
