Ronaldinho to secure a move to Palmeiras?

Sao Paulo, Aug 15 (IANS) Midfielder Ronaldinho, currently without a club, has been offered to Paulista football outfit Palmeiras, reports Brazilian media.

Just as it happened with Santos, another club linked with the two-time FIFA World Cup Player of the Year, Ronaldinho's brother and agent, Roberto Assis, denied any deal was in place for the 34-year-old, reports Xinhua.

"I am out of the country for the next ten days. I have love for Palmeiras and a good relationship with the president (Paulo Nobre) but nothing has been done," said Assis.

According to sources close to the club, however, a deal for the former Selecao No.10 is being considered. Directors do not want to enter a bidding war and will not pay overly expensive wages for a player past his prime.

Ronaldinho came close to joining Palmeiras in 2012 when he left Flamengo. Instead, he joined Belo Horizonte giants Atletico Mineiro, where he would go on to lift the Copa Libertadores in July 2013.

Meanwhile, Santos continue to be linked with the player, with Globo Esporte reporting the club are willing to offer a salary of 500,000 Brazilian real per month. The proposal from Palmeiras would be a much smaller package.

But the Paulista outfit are looking for a stellar signing in what is their centenary year. The acquisition of Ronaldinho could also help attract further marketing opportunities for the club.
