Roy Keane expresses disappointment over Manchester United performance

Roy Keane is disappointed with Manchester United’’s latest performance

Legendary former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane says it is difficult to be positive about Manchester United if you watched them against Leicester. Keane felt that there was a lack of urgency and quality from Manchester United in the second half.

The Irishman felt that while the past few weeks had been positive for United, with the emergence of young talent, this performance was dreary. Referring to the game he said, “I am a bit flat after that performance but the signs have been good over the past few weeks with young players coming through. I am trying to stay positive but it is difficult.”

Keane expressed his disappointment saying, “"I was disappointed with today because I think their form has been pretty good over the last three or four weeks, they had a massive win in the Cup semi-final to score late on,"

Keane, who has won seven Premier League titles with United said, “"But there is still a chance to get their hands on some silverware, be positive and try win the FA Cup. I was before (positive) the game.

He decried the lack of urgency saying, “After the game I am really disappointed, even the urgency in the second half. I was expecting an onslaught in the last 15 minutes, throw everything at Leicester but as the game went on I felt if anybody was going to score it was going to be Leicester.”

The Red Devils played Leicester on Sunday in a game which was crucial for both sides. Leicester could have won the league with a win. Manchester United could have closed the gap to Manchester City in fourth place to two points, a major boost to their Champions League hopes. The game ended in a 1-1 draw which did not benefit either side.

United had started brightly and scored through Anthony Martial but Leicester soon equalized. The game was even after that with United particularly showing a lack of urgency in the second half.

Manchester United are now in fifth position in the table. They are four points behind Manchester City who dropped points against Southampton after their 4-2 loss at the Stadium of Light, thereby losing a great chance of closing in on the final Champions League position. The Red Devils face relegation strugglers Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday.
