Roy Keane is in trouble again after a bust-up with a fan at a hotel in Dublin. The fan was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The man had asked Keane to sign his autobiography and the Republic of Ireland assistant manager refused after which an argument ensued.

The police were called to the Portmarnock Hotel which is close to Republic of Ireland’s training base in Malahide and are investigating the incident.

An eye-witness at the hotel said: “One guy was reading Roy’s book and wanted him to sign it. I think Roy told him no and then there were words exchanged.

“It all just kicked off from there. There was lots of roaring and shouting after.

“An ambulance was called and your man was taken away. The players were coming in and out of the bar before and then they were called in to a private room.

“Everybody in the bar is talking about it. You don’t see something like that every day.”

No arrest was made and there was no official complaint made. The man who was injured was expected to leave the hospital.

Football Association of Ireland support Keane

The FAI confirmed the incident at the team hotel and said in a statement: “We wish to clarify that Roy Keane called the Gardai (Ireland Police) following the incident.

“The manager, Martin O’Neill and the FAI are fully aware of the circumstances surrounding this event, and the assistant manager has their full support.”

The Republic of Ireland play Scotland in a Euro 2016 qualifier in Glasgow today.
