During the current campaign, Karim Benzema (17) has scored as many goals as Santi Cazorla (4), Mesut Ozil (4) and Aaron Ramsey (9) combined

Arsenal are readying themselves to once again approach Real Madrid inquiring after French forward Karim Benzema.

Over the course of the last two seasons, the La Liga hitman has several times been linked with the North London club, who saw recently saw their Premier League title charge stunted after a run of poor results, including a couple heavy hammerings away against title rivals. The scarcity of options up front became a stick used to beat Arsene Wenger, who neglected to supplement his squad with an additional forward during the bygone January transfer window.

According to the Metro, however, the Frenchman is keen to address this during the Summer in making a big money offer for Benzema. The timing may prove helpful, too, as Real Madrid themselves are eager to offload the France international for fee of around £25million, a decision reportedly influenced by unpopularity among, and jeering directed from, the Spanish giants’ supporters.

The move would also see Benzema link up with ex-Real teammate Mesut Ozil, a prospect that bodes well for Gunners fans hopeful of an above top-four finish next season.
