With rumours circulating that David Luiz is about to be sold by Chelsea the latest club to be linked with the Brazilian are German champions Bayern Munich. The German giants have been linked with a £25m move for the Samba star.

The Daily Mail report that Pep Guardiola’s team are looking at Luiz to bolster the German’s defence. Although Luiz is said to prefer a move to Barcelona, the opportunity to play under Guardiola could persuade him to change his mind.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has remained unconvinced with David Luiz at centre-back preferring Gary Cahill and John Terry as his first-choice pairing. And with Branislav Ivanovic capable to cover if needs be and promising young centre-halves Kurt Zouma and Tomas Kalas making encouraging strides in their development.

However, if any deal if to occur it will have be done after the World Cup with Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari making it clear that he doesn’t want his players to be distracted by transfer negotiations. Chelsea are likely to demand at least £30 million if they are to part with Luiz, that money would then be reinvested in bolstering other areas of the squad.

The money has hardly dried up for Chelsea but with financial play looming they need to be economically prudent, selling Luiz for a profit would be a good way to start.

David Luiz has won 36% of his tackles this season.
