Frank Lampard is set to be offered a massive £4 million a year to finally give up his Chelsea career and make his long-protracted move to America to sign for LA Galaxy, according to the Mirror.

Lampard was rumoured to be close to moving to the west coast of the United States last season, as his contract wound down at Stamford Bridge with no sign of a new one being offered.

The return of Jose Mourinho saw a new one-year deal granted to the England midfielder, but having failed to hold down a regular starting place this season, it appears Mourinho will allow him to wind down the remainder of his career in the MLS.

LA Galaxy are looking for a major name to join their squad in the summer, having lost the services of David Beckham to retirement last year and Lampard is the man they want to be their poster boy.

They have a space available for high earners, having only used up two of their three places for designated players over the MLS salary cap, with Landon Donovan and former Spurs striker Robbie Keane currently on the books.

Lampard will probably see this summer’s World Cup in Brazil as his swansong at the top level and despite Chelsea planning to offer him another one-year deal with includes a move into a coaching role, he could look to move his family to Los Angeles to see out the remainder of career.
